Skiing and snowboarding are two different kinds of snow sport. The main difference between the sports is quite apparent. It is, however, important to note that the difference does end with the sporting equipment. The clothing, gear and the accessories are almost similar.

Most Vail equipment rental stores offer both, skiing and snowboarding equipment. Skiers use two skis, ski poles and boots made from rigid plastic. These boots are held together at the heel and the toe, with metal clamps. Snowboarders, on the other hand, have only one large board, no poles and wear soft comfortable shoes. They use normal straps to bind their shoes. The equipment and gear for children do vary in both these snow sports.

Ski clothing and the clothing used by the snowboarders are similar. Both clothing are designed to give optimum protection from the weather and also ensure that they remain airy and breathable. These are basics and the rest is simply fashion. There are certain brands that previously catered only to snowboarders. Skiers, however, saw that these clothing pieces were also fit for them.

One of the current trend for freestyle skiers and snowboarders for men includes baggy and big ski tops and pants in different shades: brown, black and many bright colors. Women lean towards figure flattering and fitted jackets.

Some ski equipment rental shops in Vail also stock goggles, gloves, and helmet are the common accessories for both snowboarding and skiing. It is important that you do not go scrimping while buying these accessories because poor performing accessories may result in injuries. Hunting for bargains is fine but buy only good quality products at affordable prices. Ensure that the goggles and helmet are mutually compatible and fit perfectly together. The gloves should insulate and keep the moisture at bay successfully.

In a nutshell, there are only small differences between the clothing and accessories, but it still matters to be mindful with what you buy. The most important fact to always remember is that you should buy or rent only good quality ski and snowboarding gear, as it will not only help you make a fashion statement, but also keep you safe on the slopes.
